What we eat can greatly impact our health. The same is true for our dogs. At Bedford Veterinary Medical Center, we carry the Royal Canin brand, but have access to many other ideal and recommended diets. 

 

For certain diseases or issues, pets will not do well on traditional foods. For these pets, we offer prescription veterinary diets to help your pet feel better longer. Some of the various diseases that we recommend a specific food be given are allergies, diabetes, urinary issues, liver disease, irritable bowel disease, pancreatitis, and kidney disease. 

 

We do not typically recommend raw diets which can predispose your pet to intestinal and parasitic infections or home-cooked diets as these may be deficient in specific vitamins and nutrients. If you are adamant about having your pet on a home diet, please let us know so that we can help you to make sure your pet is getting appropriate nutrition!
